Music I listen to

I am a big News/Talk fan. Also am into 60s & 70s oldies (especially Philly oldies,) Classic Soul (Motown, Philly, Memphis, etc.) Classic Rock (70s & 80s,) Adult Standards (Sinatra, Bennett, Williams, Krall, Jones my faves,) Soft A/C, Smooth Jazz and Classic Country. And Disco, if RJ's NOT playing it. Also, radio station jingles (have a huge collection from most everyone in the business.)

The mini story of CA Joe

I live on the sunny Central Coast of California, exactly between Los Angeles and San Francisco - just 25 miles from several of the best beaches on the West Coast. San Luis Obispo is 27 miles from Paso Robles. The world-famous Hearst Castle is located just steps from the beach.

The radio market is the most "over-radioed" one in the entire country - with 26 stations serving a population of 250,000 people. There are only 2 independent stations here ... the rest are owned by the likes of Clear Channel, American General Media & Mapleton Communications. Arbitron rates the market twice a year.

I have lived here for 20 years. Born and raised in Wilmington, DE, I started my radio career in 1968 at WAMS, then WILM, before moving to Allentown, PA to work at WAEB. I worked at WIFI-92 in Philadelphia, then in Chester at WEEZ and WQIQ, before going back to Wilmington at WDEL.

I moved to Memphis to develop and program six 24/7 automated music formats for over 100 markets large and small for the William B. Tanner Co. for several years, as well as being involved in jingle production and sales. Part-time, I worked at WQUD (Quad 104) - a soft A/C format in Memphis while at the Tanner Co.

I have station management experience in Little Falls, MN - Tyler, TX - Lancaster, CA & Paso Robles, CA

For 10 years, I have been a part of the ownership of the 440 Satisfaction (440int.com) web site since 1997, as a contributing writer to "Those Were the Days" and other areas of the popular web site, based in Hawaii. I am a VP of the company owned and operated by KHJ legend, Johnny Williams, also of KGB, KIMN & WTAE.

"Hello, It's Me"... Hey Joe, just letting you know that I did indeed join this thing. I don't really know what Yuku is... but so far it seems fairly similar to MySpace. Talk to you later!

    Lauren,

I an so so THRILLED you are with the gang of misfits know as the Radio Racket. Gosh, I feel like we know each other and are friends ... and I am so pleased to know you. You have a great future ahead of you and you are one of the brightest young people on the planet when it comes to all things Radio.

Anyone who knows, at 17, who Todd Wallace, Bill Gardiner and Jerry Del Colliano is is ok in my book!

Glad you came by to be a part of this excitement, Lauren and keep in touch. Nice to have a pretty girl on board with us. It kinda boring just looking at these guys mugs all the time.

    Warmly,

    CA Joe
